Privacy Policy
Equira (“App”) is a finance application focused on portfolio tracking. This Privacy Policy explains how Equira LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use Equira on iOS and related services, websites, and customer support.
Equira does not execute trades or hold customer funds.
If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not use the App.
1) What we collect
We collect information in three ways: (A) you provide it, (B) we receive it from third parties you connect (e.g., Plaid), and (C) we collect it automatically when you use the App.
A. Information you provide
-
Account data: Email address, password, and (optionally) your name.
-
Passwords: We never store passwords in plaintext. Passwords are hashed and salted (or managed by Firebase Authentication).
-
-
Portfolio & finance data: Holdings you add manually (ticker/asset, quantity, average purchase price, cost basis), fully custom holdings you define, liabilities you enter (amounts, terms, payments, and progress updates).
-
Preferences & support: In-app settings (e.g., notification preferences), and the content of messages you send to support.
B. Information from connected accounts (via Plaid)
If you choose to connect financial accounts through Plaid, Plaid may share with us:
-
Account identifiers (e.g., institution, account type),
-
Holdings, positions, and balances,
-
Liabilities (e.g., loans/credit data that Plaid provides), and
-
Related account metadata.
We do not receive or store your bank login credentials. We may store tokens issued by Plaid to maintain the connection you authorize.
C. Information collected automatically
-
Usage and device data: App interactions, feature usage (e.g., Discover tab searches/taps), device type, iOS version, language, time zone, and performance/crash data.
-
Diagnostic and analytics data: To improve stability and experience (e.g., error logs, load times).
-
In-app content browsing: When you open an asset page (e.g., stock/ETF/crypto), we may log that event to enhance recommendations and product decisions. We do not associate this with your bank credentials.
D. Market data & news sources
The App queries market-data partners for live prices, historical charts, sentiment, “Top movers,” and News. Those partners receive only ticker or query terms. They do not receive your personal identifiers.
2) How we use your information
We use your information to:
-
Provide core functionality: Track your portfolio P/L and value using partner market APIs; take daily snapshots to render historical charts; visualize your data with charts and cards; show Discover/search, Collections, News, and Top Movers.
-
Sync connected accounts: Maintain your Plaid connection (via tokens) and refresh holdings/liabilities you’ve authorized.
-
Improve the App: Diagnose crashes, analyze usage, and develop new features.
-
Communicate with you: Send service-related emails or push notifications (e.g., account security alerts, important product updates).
-
Security & compliance: Prevent fraud/abuse, secure accounts, and comply with legal obligations.
-
Aggregate & anonymize: Create aggregated insights that no longer identify you (e.g., product metrics).
We do not use your financial account data for advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
3) Sharing of information
We share information only as described below:
-
Service providers / subprocessors:
-
Cloud database & auth: Google Firebase/Firestore (data encrypted at rest and in transit; we also apply Firestore Security Rules).
-
Market data & news partners: To fetch prices, charts, sentiment, news, and movers (query terms/tickers; no banking credentials).
-
Plaid: To connect your financial accounts; Plaid acts as a separate service provider under your authorization.
-
Analytics/crash reporting: To understand stability and performance.
These providers may access your information only to provide services to us and are bound by confidentiality and security obligations.
-
-
Business transfers: If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred in accordance with this Policy.
-
Legal & safety: If required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, or the security of the App and users.
We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing.
4) Data Retention
-
Account & portfolio data: Retained while your account is active.
-
Daily snapshots: Retained to render your historical charts; deleted when you delete your account.
-
Logs/diagnostics: Retained for approximately 90 days unless needed longer for security or legal reasons.
-
Backups: May persist for up to 30 days after deletion due to routine backup cycles.
We keep data longer only if necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.
5) Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
-
Access the personal data we hold about you.
-
Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
-
Delete your data (subject to legal exceptions).
-
Restrict or object to certain processing.
-
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (this won’t affect past processing).
You can exercise many rights in-app (e.g., editing holdings). For other requests, contact us at team@equira.com. We may verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
California (CPRA): We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as defined by CPRA. You may still submit requests to know/delete/correct at team@equira.app.
6) Security
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:
-
Encryption at rest and in transit for Firestore-managed data,
-
Hashed & salted passwords (or Firebase Authentication),
-
Least-privilege access controls and Firestore Security Rules,
-
Secure handling of Plaid access tokens, and
-
Regular monitoring and logging for suspicious activity.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7) Children's privacy
Equira is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact team@equira.app so we can delete it.
8) International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed outside your country (including the United States) where privacy laws may differ. When required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data.
9) Third-party services
Your use of third-party services (e.g., Plaid-linked institutions, Apple in-app purchases, market data/news providers you visit) is governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies. Our integrations are designed to minimize sharing to what’s necessary to operate the App.
10) Account Deletion
You can request deletion from within the App (if available) or by emailing team@equira.app. Deleting your account removes your portfolio data and snapshots from our active systems, subject to the backup and legal-hold periods in Section 5.
11) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or email.
